Just minutes after finalizing the dates of Apocalypse Plays, our lighting designer had to drop out of the production due to scheduling conflicts. Searching for new lighting designer didn't seem so problematic, considering we aren't going to be performing in a 'traditional' theatre space, and as luck would have it, our Fabulous stage manager found someone with experience to take on the role.
All seemed well and the team moved onward.
Things changed once again on Christmas Eve, when our set designer, Audrey informed us that she would no longer be attending Western this year, and would in fact be leaving to go to another school for awhile. Luck smiled upon our little production again, as Audrey wouldn't be leaving until the end of January, so she would still be able to contribute to our team. We're in the process of locating an assistant-set designer for her, so that they may take over when Audrey leaves.
Last night, I had a dream that Kayley, our Stage Manager, dropped out of the production completely. The moment I woke up, I frantically reached over to my bedside table and opened my laptop. As I signed into my email with my eyes still blurred from sleep, I prayed out-loud that I didn't just have my first psychic moment. The first email that pops up is from Kayley, and I didn't even bother reading the subject line. I knew, for certain, that I had indeed dreamed my worst fear into life. I opened the message with apprehension so thick you could cut it with a knife. And imagine my surprise/delight/relief/etc when the email was simply announcing our first production meeting. *sigh*
What I have learned from this is to remember I am not a psychic, I can't dream things into life, and that I would be seriously lost if it were not for the organization and awesomeness that is my stage manager, Kayley. She does all of this her shoulder in a sling, as she had surgery only a few weeks ago. Girl is a rock star.
